Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you in, your goals, and what support might be most helpful, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Do I need to be in crisis to start counselling?
No. Many people come to counselling as a form of self-care or prevention. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from support.
What approaches do you use?
I use trauma-informed, relational, and evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and harm reduction. Sessions are active and collaborative, with clear therapeutic direction.
Do you offer online counselling?
Yes. I offer secure online counselling to clients across British Columbia, making therapy accessible and flexible.
How long does counselling last?
This varies depending on your goals. Some clients attend short-term counselling focused on specific concerns, while others choose longer-term support for deeper or more complex issues.
Do you work with substance use concerns?
Yes. I support individuals at all stages of change, including harm reduction, recovery, relapse prevention, and substance use assessments.
Is counselling confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is a core part of my practice, with the usual legal and ethical limits related to safety.
How do I know if you’re the right counsellor for me?
Feeling safe and understood is important. You’re welcome to book a FREE 15 minute consultation to see if my approach feels like a good fit for you.
